Itinerary

Day 1: San José – Monteverde
Pick up in your hotel to travel to the Monteverde reserve. The trip takes about 4 hours, and the last 30 minutes of travel is done on a gravel road that goes up the mountain, a perfect loom to the amazing wildlife reserve of Monteverde. In the afternoon you will visit the Monteverde Frog Pond or Ranario This herpetarium with over 20 species of frogs and other amphibians allows visitors to appreciate the beauty of the areas amphibians and to learn about their role in the natural world (B)

Day 2: Hike and Sight
Early breakfast and tour to the famous Monteverde Biological Reserve, where you will join one of the daily guided walks prearranged by the reserve. Explore the trails and learn about the flora and fauna of the tropics in this awesome cloud forest. There are other cloud forests in different parts of the world, but Monteverde is special in its biodiversity. This is home to more than 450 orchids, 100 species of mammals (including bats), this forest is also home to Ocelots, Tapirs and some Jaguars. 400 species of birds, some of the more spectacular ones include the Long Tailed Manikin, the Resplendent Quetzal, the Bell Bird and the Bare-necked umbrella birds. 120 species of amphibians, and thousands of plants and also many amazing trees live here; for example the strangler fig, which start as a parasite among the branches, lowers its vines to the ground and over the years cut off the host trees sunlight. In some cases the host tree dies and decomposes leaving a hollow strangler fig tree. Return to the hotel and afternoon at leisure to enjoy the facilities or taking other optional tours (at an additional cost) overnight at the hotel of your selection. (B)

Day 3: return to San José
Monteverde – San Jose
Pick up in your hotel in Monteverde to get back to San Jose. End of services or select another short circuit to go... (B)
