LAS BAULAS (Marine National Park)

If you stay in the region from November to February, do not miss the emotive spectacle of the giant turtles nesting on Playa Grande. The famous leatherbacks, called locally “Baulas”, come to nest in the middle of the night hundreds of eggs they bury patiently in the sand. This area is protected and regulated, and will give you the opportunity, to attend an extraordinary phenomenon of nature. At the end of the season, the tiny turtle’s births occur together with the spawning. Do not miss the museum of the turtle built at the entrance of Playa Grande; this is a very educational site. .
