Just 90 minutes from San Jose, Carara Biological Reserve is an ideal first approach to the Rainforest. Along the hiking trails of easy access, you can observe plants and animals from both, the rain and the dry forests: monkeys, sloths, anteaters, crocodiles, lizards, poisonous frogs, thousands of butterflies to name just a few examples of wildlife commonly observed. Dozens of species of birds including the Ara Macau, make of the Carara reserve a privileged territory for amateur or experienced birdwatchers.
