CHIRRIPÓ (National Park)


Only 20km north of San Isidro De Perez Zeledón, with a total of 50.150 ha, the Chirripó National Park is part of La Amistad International Park in the Talamanca mountain range. More than 263 species of amphibians and reptiles and over 400 species of birds have been identified in this park, where we can observe the largest concentration of tapirs in the country. There are also jaguars, peccaries and a large number of monkeys, not to forget the resplendent Quetzal. The ascension to the Mount Chirripó, the highest peak of Central America, is not an easy matter. It is abrupt to climb up to 3.819 feet, and there are temperatures of even -9 ° at the top!
