GUAYABO (National Monument)
20 km north of Turrialba, this archaeological site would count about 5000people between 1000 BC and no later than 1400 AD. Today you can see the kind of mounds that served as foundations for the houses, stands and ramps, and paved sidewalks; a network of aqueducts partially open. You can see well-preserved animal sculptures representing felines and birds of the surrounding forest. This is not a major site, but the environment and the tranquility that emerges from it, are worth a visit
